1915 saw the Patriotic Carnival and Fete of Nations held in "the Poverty Bay Provincial Capital" Gisborne. There were 10 contestants and Miss Norma Loisel was made Queen of the carnival with 984,440 of the 2,658,109 votes recorded.


One of the most popular items each night at the Fete of Nations was the Dutch dancers.


A squad of girls "took Gisborne by storm "when they performed this gymnastic tableaux 33 times in the 12 nights of the Carnival.


Quaker girls who appeared in the Fete of Nations held in conjunction with the Queen Carnival in Gisborne 1915.
