Busy Waterfront

Welding torches flash as a new punt takes shape; outside "hammers" are driving piles into papa rock; and new port workshops are steadily growing.

A steam crane will be fitted to this punt when it's launched in the harbour channe 1. Note dredge moored in the boat harbour.
This steel punt being built near the signal station will carry stone to Butler's Wall, which is being renewed. The wall is visible in the background on the seaward side of the boat harbour.

Men put finishing touches on a new pile-driver which has since been in operation on the western side of the channel.
