Pictures From The Past

Frosty Days

The morning of July 18,1926 must have been real frosty for on that day the late Mr Walter Ardern found a frost fish on Waikanae Beach. It must have been quite a find as this particular fish does not come up very often It is particularly sweet however and makes very good eating.

The picture was brought in by Mr Ardern's son Fred, who is pictured with his wife Eileen and their friend Mrs Eileen Scott of Palmerston Road. The Arderns, who were staying on holiday with the Scotts, are formerly Gisborne people who are now living in Hamilton. Mrs Ardern was the former Eileen Colbert
