Spring Is Sprung

Spring has been well and truly sprung this year particularly by the Library, and the University of Waikato Extension Committee (Gisborne Area). These two organisations have combined to stage a Come Alive Spring Festival (every Wednesday lunchtime) from August 20 through October 22. Poetry reading, folk music, drama, Japanese floral art, mosaics, batik making and screen printing are some of the features incorporated in the programme.

The painstaking art of mosaic composition was demonstrated during the festival by artist Doreen Costello. Interested spectators look on as Mrs Costello pieces together a mosaic panel.
