Winter Planting

Members of the Rose Society spent a pleasant morning recently planting three dozen roses at the entrance to the Cook County Building in Gladstone Road. The roses had to come from Timaru as at this time of the season they were the only ones available in the dormant stage. With past Cook County chairman Dick Parker (second from left) looking on, Rose Society members engaged in the project are, from left, Stan Monck, Eve Monck, Nan Poole, and president Jim Humphreys.

$100 Marchathon ... The Sheepfarmer's Marching Team staged a very successful marchathon on July 12. The team marched all the way from Muriwai to Endeavour Park and in doing so raised $100 for club funds. Passing the showgrounds for the first and last time are, from left, Sheryl Cook, Robyn Smith, Charmaine Fouhy, Leanne Dick (these four marched the whole fifteen miles), and Leeling Louie, Gillian Lee and Margaret Cooper, who marched in relay with Cindy Cook, Margaret Carter and Jillian Fowler.
