Band's Success

The Gisborne Civic Band made a most successful trip to the National Brass Band contest held in Auckland recently. The band was first in the First Test, third in the Second Test, fourth in the Quickstep, and were joint winners of the Aggregate with Upper Hutt Municipal, The Gisborne Civic Band is now eligible for B Grade competition work. In the band are, from left, in front: Ray Wood (sergeant), Ernie Stevenson (president ), Bill Cooper (conductor), Jack Hunter (drum major), Graeme Lindsay, and Brian Kelly (deputy conductor). Second row: Bruce Priestley, Paul Cooper, Stan Cooper, Frank Booth, Geoff Ledger, Evan Bramwell and Gary Bilton. Third row: Greg McGrannachan, Gary White, Ray Stevenson, Doug Cooper (cpl), Graeme Dennison, Peter Mooney, John Ngatai and Des Hall.
