A Table for Turning

The installation of a new turntable is now being completed in the Gisborne Railway Yards. The new turntable, which was railed from Woodville, was lowered into the new pit by a Railways crane and one from Monk Bros. The new 70' turntable will also enable the bigger engines to turn more easily. The construction of this new facility will allow the proposed Customhouse Street bypass for heavy traffic to proceed.
