Chief Commissioner's Awards to Gisborne.
The Chief Commissioner's Award, the highest award which can be worked for in the Guide movement, was presented to two Gisborne Guides recently.
Barbara Young (centre) of the 7th Waiapu Turanganui company was presented with her award by Mrs Joyce Mills, the provincial commissioner. Barbara, who is the daughter of Mr and Mrs J. F. Young, 793 Gladstone Road, is pictured with her mother (right) and Mrs Mills.
Jenny Adams, of the Waimata Aranga company also received her award from Mrs Mills. This was a notable occasion as it is the first time the award has come to the company or its district. Jenny (centre) is pictured with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Adams, 70 Iranui Road, brothers Jeremy and Jonathon, and Guide guider Mrs Muriel Mitchell.
