Did it ever? From a passing motorist comes this shot of the recent hail storm at Waerenga-a-hika. Seems as tho' it was confined to the 'Hika locality but the area certainly got its share. Just look at the roof of St Luke's church.
Mr D. W. Williams is pictured with three of the numerous and unusual formations of dry grass balls found on Wainui Beach. Seems the only explanation is that they are a bit like the tumbling tumble weed of the American West, but these just gather in bulk and tightness as they roll up and down the beach before the wind.
With the roof off and the verandahs gone, this was the shell of the old Coronation Hotel before it was finally demolished.
