42 Years Service

Only One Birthday

Only one birthday celebrant, Mrs B. Johnston, answered the birthday roll call for July at the Old Folk's Association concert, meeting. However there was a good attendance considering the cold day. The St Mary's Primary Choral Group (a volunteer group from Forms I and II) provided a most enjoyable number of songs. And to help Mrs Johnston cut the cake, those of the girls who also had July birthdays came forward to give her some moral support.

At the P.B. Agricultural and Pastoral Association annual general meeting, outgoing president Derek Barker (left) presented Miss N. Cotterill with gifts from the association to mark her 40 years as an active participant in shows, and the past 20 years as chief steward of the home industries section. Mr Barker also conferred a life membership on Mr R. F. Hutchinson, a past president and prominent exhibitor for many years.

Mr Gordon Lynch was honoured by Nelsons (N.Z.) Ltd at a retirement function. Mr Lynch has given 42 years of service to the company, retiring as foreman of the casing factory.

With Mrs Johnston are, from left, Sharyn Raymond, Christine Eade, Heather Gordon, Judith Parker, Roberta Rangi, Bemadine Wawatai and Maria Grace.
