Packed House
A packed house at the Girls High School Assembly Hall was entertained to a very professional and most enjoyable “Evening Of Viennese Music.” The evening came from the Gisborne Civic Orchestra and the Gisborne Choral Society, performing popular works by Josef and Jon Strauss, Schubert, Liszt, Mozart, Beethoven and Weber.
The orchestra playing the overture “Light Cavalry” under the conductorship of Marios Sophocleous.
The Choral Society on stage under the control of conductor David Vine.

Solo violinist Roy Watt (left) played “Canzonetta” and “Here Kajti” while Roger Flurv (tenor) sang two lieders by Schubert.
Soprano Alison Thomson sang “Vilia” from “The Merry Widow.”
Part of the large crowd which packed the hall.
