Lions' Life-Rafts

The Gisborne Lions and furanga Lions Clubs presented the newly formed Marine Search and Rescue Advisory Committee with two life-rafts recently. The rafts are especially designed for dropping into the sea from light aircraft and inflate quickly with a sharp pull on the operating line. From left, in front, Gisborne Lions president Ian Mammon, Turanga Lions president Rondon Ferrick, and Marine S.A.R. committee member Gordon Hobcroft. At back, Sgt C. A. Jones, committee-man Basil Rosie, Chief Inspector J. W. McGuire (commander of the Gisborne Police District) Turanga Lion Norm Frazer, and pilots Russ McCulloch (Helicopters N.Z. Ltd), Peter Kidd (Air Gisborne) and Bob Torr (Whirl-Wide Helicopters Ltd).
