Prizes Presented
A large crowd of parents and friends attended the annual prize-giving and social held by the Comet Swimming Club in St Mary's Hall.
At the function those swimmers who are off to Brisbane for an intensive coaching stint with one of Australia's top coaches, Steve Holland, are pictured together. They leave in August.
Among the prize-winners is, Glen Owen (senior men's champ).
Wendy Brodie (most points girls 14 and 15, open trophy).
Gwen Mulligan (senior ladies most points, open trophy); Mac Tamatea (most points 14 and 15 year boys, runner-up open trophy, and club championship, freestyle and backstroke titles); Vicki Evenbly (girls river race, diving cup, most points girls 14 and over breast-stroke).

The family relay winners were members of the Brown family. They are Dad (Mr Alec Brown), sons Ross and Craig, and daughter Sharron.
A pocket award for over ten years of service to the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Centre was presented to Elaine Bridie.
Roger Davies took several trophies including the backstroke championship, and runner-up most points 14 and 15 year boys
Raewyn Meade (most points 12 and 13 girls, and breast-stroke championship); Michael Fitzharris (Mulligan Cup for youngest member to compete in Friday night racing), and Chris Meade (9 and under backstroke and freestyle championship); Alan Thompson (H.B.-P.B. Centre breast-stroke 100 and 220 titles, also gold medals at North Island Secondaries, along with club champs in breast-stroke butterfly and medley); Gerald Hay (river race, Whiteley Trophy for 13 and under, and several club championships).

Michaei Muirhead (1973-74 boys club captain and winner of the most improved boys trophy).
