All Japan to a Draw

The Poverty Bay team turned on a great effort in their match against All Japan at Rugby Park on May 14. They held the visitors to a 13-13 draw and were unlucky not to win as Arthur Cross's try under the posts was disallowed because he touch j ed the referee when he made his break. Some scintillating moves by both sides had the extra large crowd roaring, especially when John Donald and Graeme Torrie scored their tries for Poverty Bay, and when Takeo Ishizuka and Masao Yoshida took the ball over for Japan.
