Open to Mark Neill

Eighteen-year-old Mark Neill, displaying great "cool" for a young player, took this year's Poverty Bay Open golf title. He defeated Jack Lahmert after the two opponents had carried the exciting final to the 21st.

Neill recovered quite brilliantly from this awkward position in the rough off the 15th fairway.

A feature of Lahmert's game was the sinking of this long putt on the 12th green, to reduce Neill's lead. The moderate gallery was treated to some very fine golf.
