Principal Farewelled

The retiring principal of the Gisborne Girls High School was accorded two farewell functions before the end of last term. An open day at the school included items presented by the Maori Club and the school orchestra.

At the conclusion of the items the head girl, Brenda Fairlie (left), presented Miss Duff, who has been in charge of the school since it opened seventeen years ago, with a beautiful opal ring on behalf of all the girls of the school. At right is deputy head girl Jenny Arnold.

The other function was given by parents, teachers and friends at a "five-to-seven", held in the Assembly Hall. At this function the vice-chairman of the P. T.A. and member of the Gisborne High Schools Board, Mr Harold Skyrme, presented Miss Duff with a magnificent stereogram on behalf of those in attendance.
