New Chimes for Church

The Union Parish Church in Atkinson Street is now complete with bell-tower and bell. Since the union of the parishes took place, consolidation has been the keynote. The Knox Church in Ormond Road has been sold and the Atkinson Street Church has become the parish centre. However, the bell and tower from the Knox Church has been shifted to Atkinson Street, giving the union physical as well as spiritual meaning. The bell was given to the Knox Church by Mr David Douglas in memory of his son Robert, who died overseas in World War I.
