Wedding Bells of Long Ago

×

Celebrants of their Diamond Wedding anniversary last month were Mr and Mrs A. Sebire, of Riverside Road. The couple, who have lived in the same house all their wedded life, were married in Gisborne on April 8, 1913. Mr Sebire, who retired from the Herald in 1946, and was originally from Victoria, Australia, came to Gisborne in 1908. Mrs Sebire was the first full-time female employee on the Herald staff, starting at the age of 15 in 1903. The couple keep in very good health and the beautiful garden in which our picture was taken does them great credit.

Sixty-eight years of wedded bliss has been the lot, so far, of Mr and Mrs A. J. Curtis, Lancaster Road, Auckland, and formerly of Dalrymple Road. Mr Curtis will be remembered as an overseer for the Matakaoa Country Council and the Waioeka Gorge. They lived in Gisborne and surrounding districts for about 60 years. Mrs Curtis is now 85 while Mr Curtis is 90.
