Thirty-one pupils of the Muriwai School, accompanied by their teacher, Mr Ray Brown, and eight parents, have just returned from a week long educational tour of the Rotorua area, where they were based at Kiwi Ranch. Kiwi Ranch offers hostel type accommodation for groups like this. While away, the group took in side-trips to Taupo and Rotorua itself.

From Mr J. H. Dobbie comes this picture of the rare logwoodia which was sniffed out by his dog 'Sheba' on a recent forage along the wilds of Poverty Bay beach. The logwoodia has a frightening appearance which actually belies its gentle nature.

'White Moss of Kilkeran,' a West Highland White Terrier, is another Gisborne dog which has had a run of successes in shows, recently. Bred by Mrs M. C. Cameron, Bloomfield Road, 'Kim,' who is only six months old, took three firsts, best pup of breed, best dog of breed, one challenge, and the Club Terrier cup at the recent Tauranga Dog Show. 'Kim' also showed promise last autumn, when he fook best terrier pup at the local ribbon parade.
