Early Summer For Bowls
The Poverty Bay Bowling Club was favoured with brilliantly fine weather and a hot day for the 1972-73 bowls season opening, on September 23.
Clear blue skies and immaculate greens surround the crowd of bowlers attending the opening.
Sending down the first bowl, after putting up the kitty, is club guest Miss Jocelyn Lloyd.
Speakers getting the club's season away to a good start included, from left, Messrs George Brodie (Dominion councillor), Ted Williams, Brick Taylor (secretary, reading the telegrams), John McGaveston (president) and Mayor Harry Barker.
