Trios' Champs

Past v. Present

Held at the Oval on Sunday, August 20, was the Marist Past v. Present annual rugby game. Past came from behind to swamp Present, near the end of the encounter.

Unbeaten Record

Winners of the recent Indoor Bowling Association Trios' tourney were, from left, John McGaveston, Jocelyn Lloyd and Arnold Hutchins.

The runners-up, being presented with their prizes by Jim Lynn (vice-president, P.B.E.C.I.B. Association, were, from left, Mesdames N. Clark, June Mexted and Ina Bakker.

Henry Mato (Past) takes a high ball, with Present players David Boyle (left) and John Gibson in hot pursuit.

Bill Mabey gets the ball away under pressure from a Past player.

The Gisborne City Second team won the Eastern and P.B. League this season, by taking maximum points from all games played, which is possibly a Poverty Bay record. The team is, from left, in front: Terry Parkin, Lester Waugh, Dennis Jones, Robert Cudd (captain), Ross McNamara and Ross Smith. At back: Andrew Robertson, Archie Gillies, Jim McMillan, Iain Gillies, Archie Sommerville (player-coach) and Len Cudd.
