Hard At It!

Gisborne City Council men have been making the most of the fine weather recently, and have really been forging ahead on city road works. Rutene Road has seen a lot of action in the past couple of months and was, for a while, referred to as the "split level road," mainly because one half had been excavated to a depth of about four feet. This was filled with sand and metal bases, before sealing, to give it the stable base needed for a modern highway. Eventually Rutene Road will link up with Wainui Road to form a by-pass from the city.

Stout Street residents are also seeing their rates at work, for they are receiving new curbing, channelling and drive entrances.
