Mr and Mrs Harry Hankey, Wi Pere Street, celebrated their Golden Wedding on August 17, and a family party was-held to celebrate the occasion. Mrs Hankey, formerly Ethel Edge, and Mr Hankey both came from England, and met and married in New Zealand. They were wed at Holy Trinity, in 1922, by the late Canon Packe.

A Waerenga-a-hika couple, who also celebrated their Golden Wedding, on July 12 last, were Mr and Mrs Roy Vette. They were married in Palmerston North, before coming to live in the district.
