Exciting Fights

Plenty of exciting fights, especially during the finals, kept the crowd applauding at the Y.M.C.A. The N.Z. National Junior Boxing Championships drew competitors from all over the country and some classy young fighters were seen in action.

First Gisborne boxer to take a title was Gary Le Bas, who defeated T. Minchin, of Feilding. Le Bas (left) was extra quick in the ring and is seen here easily evading his opponent during the second round of the 5.5 division.
