Savings Queen

In a competition decided by vote, and run by the Gisborne Savings Committee and the Gisborne Herald, Miss Judy Barbour emerged the winner. She was announced Miss Savings Week Queen by Mayor Harry Barker at Howard's store on Friday, October 8, the end of Savings Week. The candidates were nominated by a commercial or savings bank and ten entrants took part in the competition. Miss Barbour is pictured with the Mayor in the centre of the group of contestants who are, from left, Misses Robyn Williamson, Glenda Kirk, Margaret Judd, Tina Moleta, Lois Haynes, Annette Patterson, Kira Milner, Jacque Biggar and Sally Anne Lawton.
