Hundreds and Hundreds

This project raised the Gisborne area's $600 (of the $3000 needed from the region) to keep former Hastings Jaycee, Robert Nixon, as-a Volunteer Service Abroad candidate in Western Samoa for two years. Of 1300ccs with front wheel drive and Continental suspension, it cruises easily at 70 m.p.h., and gets along on an average of 36 m.p.g.

In the recent Jaycee "Swapit" competition Christine Jones, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. O. Jones, 247 Lytton Road, collected 1247 "swapits," which put her miles ahead of any others in the contest and gave her the prize of a new bicycle.

A Renault 12TL, on display at Blogg & Co. Ltd drew a lot of attention recently. This car, which was given "The Car of the Year" award by "Wheels," the top Australian motoring magazine, is a model of the same car which came first, second and third in this year's Monte Carlo rally.
