Birthday Celebrations

$50 Presentation

×

Members attending the Old Folks' June social had a royal time, with plenty of entertainment and afternoon tea. Highlight once again was the cutting of the cake for the birthday celebrants. They are seen here and are, from left, in front: Mrs L. Mogford, Mrs K. Smith, Mrs E. Openshaw and Mrs I. Lawrence. At back are Mrs E. P. Nicholson, Messrs A. Hunn, H. McErlaine, E. Murphy (who cut the cake as it was his actual birth date), F. Griffin, and Mesdames W. Evans, E. Priestley and G. Hooper.

A presentation of a cheque for $50 was made by members of the East Coast secondary schools' conference committee to the Save The Children Fund. The money represents an excess of income over expenditure from last year's conference and as the group is not a profit-making organisation it was decided to benefit this very worthy cause with this amount. From left, in front: Bev Neill, Dawn Wilson, Rosemarie Carlyle, Patricia James, Judy Bird. At back: Julie Bell, Colin Hall, conference chairman Tim Hocquard presenting the cheque to Mrs M. D. Chrisp (the new president of the Save The Children Fund), Rex Bullard, Murray Turbitt and Darryl White.
