Uni. Graduates

These two graduates are the son and daughter of Mrs Edna Brown, 66 Corson Avenue, Christchurch, and the late Mr Norvel Keith Brown, who was chief engineer at the Cook Hospital from 1945 to 1954. Since Mr Brown died in 1955 these two have studied and worked hard, with the end result that both have gained University degrees.

Warwick, 24, has been capped Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Canterbury, and is now working with a world-wide firm of chartered accountants, Price, Waterhouse and Co., in their Sydney office.

Victoria, 22, graduated from the same University in May of last year as Bachelor of Engineering (chemical) with second class honours. In April of this year she became New Zealand's first female Master of Engineering. This last degree she completed in one year by passing the necessary examinations as well as preparing her thesis on air pollution in Christchurch. Victoria is now employed by an American firm in Sydney as a chemical engineer. All who remember the Browns during their sojourn in Gisborne will wish them all the best for the future.

Judy Murphy, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. P. Murphy, Rere, has graduated B.A, from Victoria University. Judy, who is working in a patent attorney's office in Wellington, recently announced her engagement to Evan Voyce of Masterton.

Allan Anderson, son of Mr and Mrs C. E. Anderson, 11A Hinaki Street, passed with honours to gain his Bachelor of Technology degree from Massey University. An ex-Lytton High student, Allan is now working in marketing and production in Auckland.

At Victoria University, Murray McKee has taken his B.A. degree. Murray is the son of Mr and Mrs J. G. McKee, Clifford Street.

Leigh Purcell, daughter of Mrs E. Purcell, 42 Collins Street, and the late Mr W. Purcell, graduated B.A. from Auckland University. Leigh who is now working in Wellington, recently announced her engagement to Donald Graham, eldest son of Mrs N. G. Houghton, Cambridge.
