To Sew a Fine Seam

Standard High in Woolcraft Competition

Winning entries in the National Co-ordinating Country Women's Woolcraft Awards annual competition maintained the high standard of recent years.

Although entries were fewer than expected the judges had a difficult time sorting out the winners.

Mr G. Shanks, local member of the Wool Board electoral college, presented the prizes. Mrs Black, wearing her homespun garment, a beautifully-made. poncho, receives her prize of an all-wool blanket for that section.

Linda Benson, Gisborne, Blanche Boyce, Ruatoria, and Judith Barron, Tolaga Bay, who won places in a Girls' High School fashion parade of home-made garments organised by Form 5A to raise funds for the Save the Children Fund. Linda (left), ' who came second, wore a midi herringbone tan skirt and lace-front white blouse. Blanche, the winner, chose a pinafore outfit in green checks with a bone-coloured butterfly blouse. Judith's wool two-tone trouser suit was in mustard with blue over-checks.
