City Beats Christchurch in Mud, Glorious Mud
And was there plenty of mud about when City defeated Christchurch in a major upset in the National League soccer.
Conditions were soggy and wet, although the day was fine, after days of heavy rain. Jim McLaren's goal gave City their one-nil victory over the somewhat tempestuous Christchurch team.
Typical of the conditions, this shot shows City's right back, Fred Harris, arriving too late to stop Christchurch winger, Kees Doornabal, from getting the ball away.

Kees Doornabal (Christchurch) had a penchant for the mud and water.
