A Rare Pearl

Keeping the Peace

Paintout!

A good number of Gisborne Round Tablers turned out on a recent Sunday morning to paint the exterior of the Plunket Rooms in Palmerston Road. It is pleasing to observe that many of these organisations in the city find time to help others, especially these days when the criminal and useless minority seem to be grabbing all the publicity. From left, Tablers John Ireland, Jim Woolf, Paul Coker, Dennis McKenzie, Graeme Whibiey, Rex Ballard, Peter Wright and with a brush full of paint Mark Johnson.

Strathleven Silver Pearl carried off the Best Pedigree Long Hair Any Other Colour Kitten trophy, one of the top awards at the recent Felix, National Cat Show held in Wellington. An aristocratic young puss, "Pearl" belongs to Mrs Lorraine Bothamley, Steed Avenue.

From Richard Bate, 67 Endcliffe Road, we have this pic of Lucy and Spot making out that they are the best of friends. Actually Lucy, a Chinese Silkie bantam, and Spot, a tortoiseshell-and-white cat, tolerate each other to a remarkable degree, which is more than can be said for most cats and birds.
