Three outstanding pupils at St. Mary's College last year were Jillian Adsett, Helen Cull and Christine Milligan, who sat School Certificate in six subjects and passed with high marks. They also sat University Entrance and passed, no mean feat for third year students. One of the School Certificate subjects the girls took was German and they completed this subject in one year instead of the usual three. Jillian, Helen and Christine will do bursaries this year and scholarships next year.

Brian Williams, 146 Russell Street, was a Gisborne finalist in the Kelloggs Rice Bubbles "Neptune and His Switched on Seaweeders" contest. The final paintings were sent to Wellington for judging. Here Brian is seen with his entry.
