Bicentennial Bull

The Gisborne Hererord Cattlemen's Club staged a display of paintings, ribbons and photographs depicting the rise of the Hereford cattle in New Zealand, thereby marking their part in the Cook bicentennial celebrations. The display was mounted in the foyer of the Masonic Hotel.

Robert and Every McLean who imported the first Hereford sire in to New Zealand. He was Lord Lovell, pictured below right.

In the 1940s Bosun Gem held one of the best show records in the district. He was bred by Mr F. E. Humphreys.
