Formerly of Palmerston Road, Gisborne, and now of Clinkard Avenue, Rotorua, is Billy Thomson, who lives there with his parents Doug and Rita Thomson. Billy was in the news earlier in the year when he jumped into a boiling pool in Rotorua in a vain attempt to rescue his Labrador dog. In recognition of his heroic feat Billy was awarded a certificate of bravery from the S.P.C.A. He was also given a trip to Wellington where he met the late Minister of Justice, Mr Hanan.
