Red Cross Conference

The National Conference of Red Cross was held in the War Memorial Hall with delegates from all parts of the country attending.

Guest speaker, Mr Hendrik van Oss, Charge d'Affaires at the American Embassy (right) was given a Red Cross crest to be forwarded on to Mr John Henning, the retiring American Ambassador. Mr van Oss was made a member of the Poverty Bay Red Cross by the local president, Miss < unclear >Greita</ unclear > Clifford-Jones (centre). At left is Mr David Wnyte, national chairman, who presented the crest.
