This is the 1969-70 committee of the Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Centre. The committee has been responsible for a publication on the history of bowls in Poverty Bay which is due off the press shortly. Bowling started in Gisborne in the early 1880s. Due to Parliament being in session on the weekend of the Miles for Millions walk, local M.P. Mrs Esme Tombleson was unable to take part. On the following weekend, however, a group of High School girls joined in with her to do their part in the walk. Here they are seen leaving from Fitzherbert Street.

Holmes Motors salesman Lyn Lindsey was presented with a radiogram by the Ford Motor Company recently. This was the prize in a no-remittance sales contest conducted among Ford dealers throughout New Zealand. Ford representative, Mr N. L. Wilson, Wellington (left), made the presentation. At right is Holmes Motors managing director Mr D. A. Hewlett.
