Major G. James, matron of the Edward Murphy Maternity Hospital, is pictured with the foundation stone which will be incorporated in the new wing. This will consist of single and twin rooms and will be for unmarried mothers. The stone was laid on February 15.

Helping to ease the accommodation problem in Gisborne is this new private hotel, the Elgin Travel Lodge, which was opened recently.
