Members of the' Gisborne Choral Society gathered recently to farewell Revel Rice who is leaving the city on promotion to Wellington. Virtually the founder of the society in 1966, Revel retired as the society's president. Vice-president Ted Dumbleton (left) made the presentation which consisted of a handsome clock and a music case.

At the Post Office Savings Bank in Lowe Street a presentation was made by the Chief Postmaster, Mr R. B. McKenzie to Mr R. W. Wilkins. This marked the retirement and the end of 42 years' service with the Post Office for Mr Wilkins, or "Doc" as he is known to everyone. "Doc's" first seven years with the department were spent in the telephone exchange branch, and for the last 35 years he has been in the Gisborne P.O. S.B. He retired as senior supervisor from that branch.

Back on her way home from England where she has spent the last three years in London with her son Marcus is Mrs Louisa Alexander, 82 Awapuni Road. Mrs Alexander spent some days in Israel.
Mrs Alexander visited Jerusalem and many areas gained by the Israelis following the Six Day War, including Jericho and the Dead Sea. She is pictured in Hebron where the Jews believe the tomb of Abraham is. Note the armed Israeli soldiers at a vantage point on the roof of the rest house following terrorist activity.
