The Anna Maree was dramatically holed and soon filled with water. A rescue boat was quickly to hand and the vessel was overturned and towed into the harbour. Crew Peter Breingan and driver/owner Jack Breingan hold desperately to the Anna Maree as the rescue boat comes alongside.

Peter Breingan stabilises the overturned boat and, below, holds it steady as they are towed ashore.

Not so lucky was Brian Harvey with his boat Sheryl which, after being swamped in the early stages of the race, broke up and sank while being brought into shore.
