Tom Vaughan retired at the end of last year after 40 years' service with the Railways. He came to Gisborne in 1959 and has been assistant stationmaster (goods). Pictured with Tom at his desk on his last day in office are, from left, Catherine Cudd, Janice Hepburn, Cilia Meredith and Sandra Good.

Congratulations are the order of the day for Mrs Hazel McLeod, 34 Anzac Street, who received the Recognition Badge and Certificate of the Royal Life Saving Society of New Zealand. These were presented to her at the national conference held in Christchurch. Mrs McLeod is the secretary of the Gisborne R.L.S.S. Association.
