New Sport Under Way

The Poverty Bay and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association's new building was opened recently in Childers Road. The new building contains three squash courts and administrative and shower and toilet blocks downstairs, and a lounge overlooking the squash courts along with a balcony upstairs overlooking the tennis courts.

Mayor Harry Barker, and Mr Dick Richardson officially open the new courts. A Squash Racquets Club has been formed and new members are welcome.

New Zealand's fourth and fifth women's seeds, Julie Hislop, Palmerston North, and Aileen Buscke, Auckland, also gave exhibition games.
