Comet Swimming Club. Seven Comet Swimming Club officials received service awards from the Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay Centre. They are,
Tom Powell, Ray Meade, Dr Michael Hewitt and Reg Gardner.
Ian Shaw, Geoff Goodall, Colin Hacche, vice president of the H.B.-P.B. Centre, and Bill Hoquard.

Three girls who took part in the races on opening night were Jeanette Croskery, Gayl Thorstenson and Alison McKnight.
