Oddities of Nature

Ivan Whelan found this three-headed cauliflower among his crop of the same in his garden at 7 Mangapapa Road recently. Although cauli-flower heads are known to split, in this case there were three distinct heads.

Although laid without a shell, this egg took so much out of the hen that it expired. The egg weighed 11b 20z and was seven inches long and about five in diameter. It is held by Roger Bodle of the Twins poultry farm where it was laid.

Mrs K. Torrie, 24 Kingsley Street, came across this three-headed arctotis in her garden. It is photographed against a mirror to show the third bloom.
