From Captain Medland come these pics of the opening of the Waipapa River Bridge on the Te Araroa-East Cape Road. This bridge makes access much easier to East Cape on a recently upgraded road.

Could this be the smallest Post Office in New Zealand? asks Captain Medland. A post box and private boxes on the side of this small building distinguish this tiny Post Office at Whakaangiangi.

This 4'10" kingfish was caught at the Ariel Reef by Graeme Lewis, 186 Cobden Street. Jock Hope and Maurice Evans gave Graeme a hand to pull the monster in. With the fish are Graeme and his daughter Jenny.
