Three Gisborne girls were among those presented to His Grace, the Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. M. A. Bennett and Mrs Bennett at the Wellington Anglican Maori Ball, They were Erena Nepe (above right), daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Nepe, Manutuke, Tangiwai Kingi (below centre), daughter of Mr and Mrs M. Kingi, Waihirere, and Raana Kerekere (below right). daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Kerekere, Wellington, and formerly of Stout Street. Erena is employed in the vitals section of the Statistics Department, Tangiwai is a typist in the State Fire Insurance Head Office, and Raana works in the Accounts Branch of Wilkins, Davies and Taylor Woodrow Ltd. The girls are all members of the Ngati Poneke Maori Club.

The presentation of a silver tray to Mr Charles Chamberlain officially marked his retirement from the Prudential Assurance Company after more than 28 years' service. From left are Mr Charles Hough (Wellington), life branch manager for N.Z., Mr and Mrs Chamberlain, and Mr Victor Stace (Wellington), agency manager for N.Z. Although officially retired, Mr Chamberlain will still be connected with the firm.
