Veterans' Golf Tournament

The finals of the N.Z. Veterans' Amateur Golf tournament took place at the P.B. Golf Course on November 1. One hundred and twenty-eight took part in the N.Z. Tournament and the P.B. Veterans' Tournament which was run in conjunction with the national tournament.

Four players who took part were Bob Innis, Tauranga, Bill Turner, Napier, Jim Barns-Graham, Gisborne and Tom Munroe, Te Awamutu.

More players were Barney O'Dowda, Gisborne, Bill Ross, Te Puke, Bill Johns, Tauranga, and Sid Randell Tauranga.

Pictured with the president of the Association, Dr Frank Hutchison of Wanganui (right, and a former holder of the title) are Mr Harry Trigger. Mt Maunganui (a past president and a former holder of the title), Mr Richard Black, Gisborne (a past president and the present president of the P.B. branch) and Mr Rex Bridge, Hastings (a past president and at the age of 85 the oldest player in the tournament).

Winner of the N.Z. Veterans' Amateur Golf Tournament is Mr "Bowser" Toogood of Gisborne. Mr Toogood is a life member of the P.B. Golf Club and this is the first N.Z. golf title he has won.
