From Mr Steve Burke, Hospital Road, comes this picture of, from left, the late Jim Butler, his wife, the late Nellie Butler, her brother, William Burke, and his wife Ellen Burke. (The latter two are Steve Burke's parents and Mrs Butler is his aunt). Mr Butler was the contractor who built "Butler's Wall", the dividing wall between the Turanganui River and the inner harbour basin.

This photo was taken during the construction of the Hicks Bay wharf many years ago. Standing on top of the pile-driver is the contractor, Mr Charlie McCracken.
