There have been some very novel modes of transport provided for grooms and brides as they have left the church for their reception But one of the most novel, seen to date was that provided for Ian Watt and Christine Hickey after their wedding at St. Mary's on Saturday, November 23. The J. Wattie, the Waikanae Surf Club's surf-boat, was towed on a trailer. In the boat the newly-weds travelled to their reception at Ulverstone. Ian is a member of the Waikanae Surf Club.

An old tanker was presented to the Tolaga Bay Fire Brigade recently by Leopard Breweries. Assuring an extra supply of water, the tanker will be the means of saving time and property at a fire, when finding water is always an urgent matter. A large number of flyers from many North Island Aero Clubs visited the Gisborne Aero Club on a recent weekend. They are pictured shortly after their arrival. Activities over the weekend included "bombing" competitions and free flying.
