Driving Contest

The regional section of the National Atlantic Driving Award Contest took place in McIntosh's yard in Stanley Road. About 60 drivers entered the competition which was held under very wet and muddy conditions.

Jack Anderson of Wards Transport won the overall final, while Trevor Jukes, of M. E. Jukes and Son, and Jim Murphy, of Wards Transport were equal second. Jim Murphy also won the Transport Industry Insurance Cup which is awarded to the driver with longest period of time and mileage accident free.
