....Sallie Carrington and Rae Chiles are the smiling receptionists at the P.R. office. Sallie, who lives at 11 Karamu Street, is a typist, was educated at Lytton High, and enjoys swimming, sewing, pop music, and reading, Mrs Chiles, P.R. secretary, is also Gisborne's only woman taxi proprietor. Residing at 8 Iranui Road, she has as interests gardening, floral art, and flower preservation.

....Noel Geddye, retired service manager for Newton King, is relieving weighbridge keeper for the Gisborne Harbour Board. Married with one son and four grandchildren, Noel lives with his wife at 33 Lyndhurst Street. He is a keen miniature rifle shooter, is an honorary life member of the "Cossy" Club (he served as president in 1949 and 1950), and is a former rower and archer. He also enjoys a spot of fishing.

....Dorothy Parsons is senior girl at Mayfair Studios. She resides at Ormond, enjoys horseback riding, and is a captain of the Waerenga-a-hika Girl Guides. Educated at Te Karaka District High School, she is a former hockey player and now follows the sport.

....Bert Hawken, Peter Hohepa, and Alf Banks are members of the Rope Construction gang employed on building the new Waimata Bridge. Bert, married, of 112 Harris Street, is a labourer, and enjoys gardening and following rugby. Peter, a leading hand carpenter, came from Whangarei last year when his company built the new Gisborne wharf. He lives with his wife and three children at 168 Crawford Road and enjoys fishing, pig hunting, and rugby. Alf, of 41 Abbott Street, is married with four children," and spends his leisure time gardening, fishing, pig hunting, and at the races.
